Our Fair Nissan
On January 26, 2008, just short of high noon, in the Sonoran Desert of Tucson Arizona, The Nissan began the next stage in its long and illustrious life. An EMT, mountain ranger, ex-mechanic, construction worker bought the Nissan to fix up!! The Nissan is in store for a makeover, including AIR CONDITIONING!! The cowboy hat wearing driver owns an '89 Nissan that just died with over 300,000 miles. He plans to use that car to replace parts on his new, flashy Nissan a.k.a our dear Nissan.
Here's to another 150,000 miles!
The following is a tribute to the Nissan containing pictures of the Nissan on its/our cross-country adventure and images from its last moments in our possession (including the new owners, if you look closely).

Bye Bye Nisson
Had some great rides and will remember it fondly. Hope the new owner will treat it with kindness and love.
You guys will probably see it again when you return from Ecuador.
Hope you kept the palm cross.
love, grandma
Don't worry grandma...
...not only did we keep the palm cross, but we also kept the eyeball ring, the faded purple thistle, the blue flowers from dads wedding confiti, the white ones from our confiti, the freedom matches, the mexican ring, the crazy looking cyclops, the bird bones, the beads, the montana sage, the orange fish hook, the pin from the met, the Zapatista doll from Chiapas, the mini buddha, Mary's hair tie, the honduran obsidian face, the penny holder, the one armed crazy thumb monster, the One campaign bracelet, the red o-ring from the headlight, the pine cone from the Sierras, the prism from the old binoculars, the driftwood from the coast, and the red Marcos bandana played an integral part in controlling the blood during the transfer of the title.
We weren't sure if the car would run without all of the voodoo so we left the genie in the engine (literally) to make sure that the new owner would have as much good luck as we did.

This is my third try at posting a comment--I am so technologically backward.
I love the blog--thanks for doing this. Sorry about The Nissan, but it sounds like it has at least one more life to go! Good luck in your travel next week.
love,
Rosemary
to all things there is a season.
That rusty old car was part of your start together, so I am sure that it will always be a part of your memories. I am sure it was hard to let go, but
- you two will be traveling light for the next while, doing many new
things and growing together.
God bless you both.
love,
Dad
ps:
( I was wondering about the "engine genie". I think you did the right thing to leave it
with the car.)
Dad,
The "engine genie" had been riding along under the hood since I was in Montana (2003). There are pictures of it towards the end of the slideshow.

Hey M & M
Congratulations on finding a new home for your mighty road warrior.
If you are lucky he may let you buy it back when you get home from Ecuador!
love,
mc
